Steve Cotterill took the helm at Rovers in January 2024 after a seven month break following his time at League One side Shrewsbury Town.

Cotterill managed 117 games for the Salop, who were just one of the 11 sides Cotterill has managed in his 30 year career.

A career that started in Ireland with Sligo Rovers in 1995 before carrying Cheltenham Town up the football pyramid, leading him to the helm at Stoke City, Burnley where he managed 169 games, then Notts County, Portsmouth and Nottingham Forest.

Cotterill had stints as QPR and Birmingham City (where he later became manager) assistant manager under Harry Redknapp either side of a successful time with Bristol City.

Cotterill managed 116 games for the Robins which saw him win the cup and league double during the 2014/15 season lifting the League One title and the EFL Trophy.

The vastly experienced boss is amongst a small group of football managers who have managed nearly 1,000 professional matches with a management career win rate of over 40%.
