Cardwell joined Forest Green in August 2024 on a permanent deal from Southend United bolstering Steve Cotterill’s attacking options.

The forward spent two-and-a-half years at the Shrimpers going onto to score 27 goals in 81 appearances at Roots Hall.

Prior to his time at the Shrimpers, Cardwell spent two years on and off at Chorley beginning in a loan spell from Grimsby Town before becoming becoming permanent in the summer of 2020.

The former Reading academy product also spent time on loan at Stockport County in 2021 where he made 19 appearances and found the net five times.
