A classy central defender who is good on the ball, Christian Marques arrived at The New Lawn on transfer deadline day in September 2022. Immediately, he was thrown into the fray when an injury to Jordan Moore-Taylor saw him introduced as a substitute in Rovers’ defeat to Shrewsbury Town.
However, he has coped extremely well in League One ever since, reading the game well, winning vital headers and holding the line alongside his teammates. He looks particularly composed bringing the ball out and playing it forwards when Rovers have possession.
Born in Switzerland but with Portuguese heritage, he came through as a youth with Grasshoppers before joining the Wolves Academy at Molyneux. His loan spell with the Green Devils could be an important stepping stone in his career.
Christian has represented Switzerland U15 to U17, and Portugal at U18.
