Skydiamonds are the first and only conflict-free, carbon-negative diamonds. Rather than mining the ground for gems, Skydiamond mines the sky.
Unlike ground-mined diamonds, Skydiamonds are completely ethical and carbon-negative by design. It has taken the Skydiamond team over five years to perfect their revolutionary process, which mines the sky for atmospheric carbon and turns it into real diamonds at their UK sky mining facility, using renewable energy.
They were created by environmentalist Dale Vince OBE, the founder of green energy provider Ecotricity, and Chairman of Forest Green Rovers as a way to remove carbon from the sky – reducing some of the damage caused by humanity’s CO2 emissions. Skydiamonds also save the vast amounts of carbon emitted to mine diamonds from the ground.
Skydiamonds are physically and chemically identical to ground-mined diamonds, and, because of the purity of the ingredients and the unique production process, are of the highest quality. Production will be limited making these stones the rarest diamonds on the planet.
Skydiamonds now promise to revolutionise the jewellery industry, paving the way for the future of the diamond mining, one that not only rejects human and environmental exploitation, but helps to reverse some of the damage already done.
One lucky football fan will win a Skydiamond at each home game at Forest Green Rovers in a unique ‘Diamond Drop’ competition. All match day ticket holders (including Season Tickets) for each League One home game will be automatically entered into this sparkling prize draw.
The prize is one round, brilliant cut, certified Skydiamond of between 0.5 and 1 carats, manufactured by Skydiamond, and with an average market value of around £2,000.
Forest Green Rovers start this season in Sky Bet League One, having been promoted following a dramatic end to the 20-21 Season. They are the world’s first Vegan team and the first to be certified as carbon neutral by the United Nations. In 2017, FIFA described FGR as ‘the greenest football club in the world’.
Dale Vince, Chairman of Forest Green Rovers, and Skydiamond pioneer says:
‘I’m keen to get these amazing stones into the hands of people, especially people who may never have had diamonds on their mind, who may never expect to have one - it’s a kinda Robin Hood thing, without robbing anyone’
