November 22nd 2022FGR Media

There's Papa Johns Trophy action at The Bolt New Lawn on Tuesday night as Rovers take on Cheltenham Town at The Bolt New Lawn.

It's the first meeting of the season with our Gloucestershire rivals - and we face them again in League One action in just a couple of weeks time.

Ahead of Tuesday's clash, we've taken a look at our previous Papa Johns Trophy encounters with Cheltenham Town.

CHELTENHAM TOWN 1-2 FGR - 03/10/17

"1-0 down, 2-1 up, Jordan Stevens wrapped it up."

It was Derby Day delight for Rovers at Whaddon Road in early October 2017. FGR came from behind to defeat the Robins, with goals from Reece Brown and Stevens securing the victory.

Jordan Stevens

Freddie Hinds put Cheltenham ahead early in the second half, but fine strikes from outside the box from Brown and substitute Stevens turned the game in Forest Green's favour.

Cheltenham striker Danny Wright was shown a red card just three minutes after Stevens' winner - as Rovers claimed the bragging rights.

FGR 4-0 CHELTENHAM TOWN - 04/09/18

Rovers ran riot against the Robins in Nailsworth in September 2018.

Rovers players celebrate against Cheltenham

Dayle Grubb gave Mark Cooper's side the lead with a curled strike past Rhys Lovett - and Rovers really made their dominance count in the second period.

A corker from Tahvon Campbell shortly after the interval doubled the advantage, before late goals from George Williams and Isaac Pearce added some gloss to the scoreline.
