Rovers forward Matty Stevens will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, after being substituted in Saturday’s win over Scunthorpe United.
The talisman has suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and now starts his journey to recovery with the support of Rovers medical staff.
Stevens has enjoyed his most prolific EFL campaign in front goal this season – scoring 23 league goals and helping Rovers maintain a club record 19-match unbeaten run.
Scoring 27 goals in all competitions, Matty was also awarded Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for August, as well as the PFA award and several nominations.
And although the 24-year-old will face a prolonged period out of action, Head Coach Rob Edwards is backing the star to return stronger and better than ever.
"I want to send my best wishes to him," said Edwards.
"I've spoken to him and thanked him for his contribution this season. He is a massive reason for the club being in this position at the moment.
"Our job now as a football club is to give him all the support he needs in his recovery, help him in every way that we can and make sure that when he comes back that he's playing League One football."
Director of Football, Rich Hughes, added: "Matty has had an unbelievable season for us and been instrumental in our success so far this season.
"The injury is a blow, but I have full faith in Matty and our medical staff and we will get him back stronger than ever. He has our full support as a club."
Everyone at FGR will be supporting Matty on his road to recovery.
