Forest Green Rovers suffered a 3-0 defeat against AFC Fylde at Mill Farm on Saturday.

Steve Cotterill named three changes from the side that earned a point last Saturday seeing Kyle McAllister, Joe Quigley and Cian Harries all return to the starting XI.

In a first 45 minutes that saw not so much goalmouth action, it was the home side, Fylde, who broke the deadlock on 26 minutes through Will Hugill after Fabian Mrozek had superbly diverted Tyler Roberts initial effort onto the post.

Rovers almost instantly responded down the other end as McAllister teed up Charlie McCann, but he could only send his effort over the bar.

The Coasters tried to double their lead on 42 minutes but a well-timed block from Ryan Inniss sent Rovers into the break still in the game.

The hosts came out firing in the second period and Roberts tried to double their lead again, but it was Adam May this time with a well-timed block on 51 minutes.

Jamie Robson tried his luck with a looping header back across goal on 59 minutes but Coasters goalkeeper, Ben Winterbottom, did well to get back and keep it out.

The hosts did double when Harry Davies rifled home from close range on 63 minutes before Nick Haughton picked out the bottom corner from distance eight minutes later to make it 3-0.

Rovers went close to finding a goal late on when Christian Doidge rattled the upright with a volleyed effort on 89 minutes.

Rovers are back in action on Saturday when we take on Solihull Moors for our lunchtime National League meeting at The New Lawn.
