Less than 100 days since securing promotion to League One at Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium, the two sides will lock horns again tomorrow.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of a historic day for Forest Green Rovers:
"The early games are always harder. Once you're four or five matches into the season you've got more video to look back at and see what teams are doing," explained Burchnall.
"The teams know each other well though and there will be good memories from last season, both have momentum from that too and will be hoping to carry it on."
"The champions of the division we played in last year. It’s kind of who you want to play, isn’t it?" said Joey Barton.
"You want to play the sides you competed against last year because you know them a bit better.
"We’re at home for the first time [on the opening day] in six or eight seasons, but we’re at home, we’ve got a full house and I’m really looking forward to the League One campaign starting."
Forest Green are in good shape ahead of the start of the season with Burchnall able to pick from an almost full squad.
Matty Stevens and Harry Boyes remain long-term absentees.
Last night, Bristol Rovers announced that defender Nick Anderton has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer and will undergo surgery in the coming weeks. Everyone at FGR wishes Nick a full and speedy recovery.
