Osadebe: "We believe we can win every game"

Midfielder talks Wrexham, form and Steve Cotterill

Midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe says Forest Green now have the belief that they can win every game they go in to.

Osadebe was on the scoresheet for Rovers on Tuesday night, scoring after three minutes in our 1-1 draw with promotion-chasing Wrexham.

Rovers battled hard all evening and were only denied three points by a stoppage-time Paul Mullin penalty, which salvaged Wrexham a late point.

“We can be proud of the standard of the performance," said Osadebe. "The standard was very high and we met the demands of the gaffer with our running, desire and trying to win the game.

“It’s four points out of six at home - and we’ll take that.”

The 27-year-old grabbed his second goal in four games as he showed great awareness to bend the ball past Wrexham shot-stopper Arthur Okonkwo with the match just a few minutes old.

An injury to Matty Stevens means that Osadebe has played as a number 10 in the last couple of games, allowing him to create something of a partnership with Christian Doidge.

“It was good to get off to a good start," he said. "I managed to nick the ball of the midfielder, Doidgey played a great ball through and I knew that taking it first time was the best option.

“Doidgey has been brilliant since he’s been here. He does so much work off the ball. He’s really good on the ball and I love playing with him. He’s top class, a proper pro and gets the best out of everyone around him.”

With seven points taken from the last four matches, Rovers are moving in the right direction. The form of the likes of Osadebe has been crucial to that upturn in form, but the January addition from Bradford City says the environment that Steve Cotterill has created is a significant factor behind the form.

He said: “When I first came in, the team wasn’t on form. But the gaffer has come in and created an environment where the demands are high and we have to meet them. That’s the bottom line. He’s been great for everyone. We have to do everything we can to win every game between now and the end of the season - and we believe we can.

“We’ll go up to Grimsby and come 3pm, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running - every single one of us. I know we’ll be ready.”
