Omotoye joins Rovers

Forward signs from Norwich City

January 23rd 2023FGR Media

Forest Green Rovers are thrilled to announce the signing of forward Tyrese Omotoye from Norwich City on a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old - who can play anywhere across the frontline - bolsters Ian Burchnall’s attacking options and becomes our seventh January signing.

Born in Belgium and capped once by their Under-16s side, Omotoye spent time at Cray Wanderers before signing a professional contract with Norwich City in 2019.

He caught the eye for the Canaries in the EFL Trophy during the 2020/21 season, bagging a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Newport County.

Omotoye made a number of first-team appearances in a Norwich shirt in the first half of that campaign - before spending the second half of the season on loan at Swindon Town.

Last season, Omotoye was out on loan again - racking up 21 appearances for Leyton Orient and Carlisle United.

The exciting forward has made 11 appearances in Premier League 2 for Norwich this season, scoring three goals.

Upon joining Rovers, Omotoye said: “I’m delighted to be here. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club.

“It was a no-brainer. It’s a good club to be at. I wanted to have a home and a bit of stability.

“I love to score goals. I want to come in and score as many goals as possible.”

Omotoye will wear the number 30 shirt and could make his Rovers debut at Bolton Wanderers tomorrow night.
