Following their success in local football tournaments – North Nibley Primary School were selected to represent Forest Green Rovers in the Regional Event of the Premier League Primary Stars U11 National Girls Football Tournament.

Prior to the event, the players took part in two training sessions run by FGR Women Head Coach, Tom Needham, and were provided with a full Forest Green Rovers home kit each.

The players conducted themselves impeccably throughout the competition, displaying all of the Premier League Primary Stars values of ‘Being Fair’, ‘Being Connected’, ‘Being Ambitious’ and ‘Being Inspiring’.

Despite not qualifying for the next round of the competition, the team were deservedly awarded the Fair Play Award for the competition and were fantastic ambassadors for both their school and Forest Green Rovers Football Club.

Premier League Primary Stars inspires children to learn through the power of football in more than 18,700 primary schools across England and Wales. There have been over 17m attendances by primary school pupils at club-led sessions since 2017, with 103 professional football clubs across the football pyramid receiving funding from the Premier League to deliver these. More than 60,000 teachers have registered for free downloadable lesson materials, with 91% of teachers surveyed saying Premier League Primary Stars has increased pupils’ enjoyment of sport. The total Premier League investment, delivered via the Premier League Charitable Fund, over the last five years is £54m.  Premier League Primary Stars enables teachers to use resources across English, Maths, PE and PSHE, to support children to develop skills and values that are crucial to success in later life. Currently 103 professional football clubs from across the leagues run in-classroom Premier League Primary Stars sessions in local partner schools.
