Scotsman scored in Colchester win
Kyle McAllister is striving for consistency after scoring his first goal of the season in Forest Green Rovers' 5-0 win over Colchester United on Saturday.
McAllister doubled Rovers' lead with a sweet strike in the 65th minute, as Matty Taylor and a double from Matty Stevens followed up Callum Morton's opener.
Rovers bounced back from six straight defeats in style with the win against 10-man Colchester - with McAllister calling for the team to put in that level of performance each week.
"The main feeling was relief at full time," said the 24-year-old. "We played well against Walsall in midweek and we all stuck together during the week, it was a happy camp.
"We played how we should play every week. We were aggressive from the front and we showed what can happen when we play like that.
"We know we have good players. For some reason it hasn't clicked, but it clicked on Saturday. It's not just because of their red card - even before that we were on the front foot and the better team."
The Scotsman's strike was his first goal of the season. Despite some scintillating attacking displays, a goal has evaded McAllister - but he now believes he can kick on now that he's off the mark.
Watching plenty of clips from games with David Horseman and Louis Carey has helped McAllister with his understanding of what he needs to do get more goal contributions.
"I've been a wee bit frustrated," he admitted. "I've created and had lots of chances but nothing has come from it. Breaking the seal today is great for confidence, to add to a couple of assists. Hopefully I can start producing that week in week out.
"When we go to away games in the hotel, I watch lots of clips with the gaffer and Louis. They show me the positions I'm getting in. They tell me that I'm getting in the right positions, making the right decisions sometimes, but they show me other options and what I can do differently to score more goals and get more assists.
"As a team, we're very close, but getting the win is big for us. It's been a low start, but it's given us confidence. This could boost our season, but we just need to produce again next weekend."
