Forest Green Rovers suffered a heavy 6-0 League Two defeat to Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.
Steve Cotterill made two changes to his side that lost on Tuesday night re-introducing Callum Jones and Fankaty Dabo back into the starting XI.
The Welsh side needed a win to secure promotion to League One and came flying out the traps when Elliot Lee bundled a close ranged shot home on 17 minutes.
It was quickly two for Wrexham when Paul Mullin rose highest to meet a James McClean cross and head past Vicente Reyes on 23 minutes.
Ten minutes later, Wrexham had a third when a deflected effort unfortunately hit Ryan Inniss and rolled into his own net.
Mullin bagged his second of the half making it 4-0 before half time when his volleyed effort from inside the area beat Reyes courtesy of a deflection.
The pick of the goals came just after the hour mark when Ryan Barnett met a McClean cross to send a first-time volleyed effort flying past Reyes.
Less than two minutes after coming on as a substitute, Jack Marriott turned home a low McClean cross from close range on 84 minutes, securing back-to-back promotions for our host.
It took until stoppage time at the end of the game for Rovers to test Wrexham ‘keeper Arthur Okonkwo with a flurry of efforts.
Jordan Moore-Taylor and Charlie McCann took aim from range but had their efforts beaten away either side of a Kyle McAllister header from 12-yards being well dealt with by Okonkwo.
