Match Report | Frampton Rangers 2-3 FGR Women

Rovers come from behind to take all three points

February 25th 2025Jasper Hudson

Forest Green Rovers came from behind to win 3-2 thanks to three second half goals despite a late push from Frampton Rangers.

Louise Fensome made three changes to last Sunday’s county cup side. Goalkeeper Katie Thatcher came in for Flo Stiddard with Mary Brittain and Leilani Ryder replaced by Tori Taylor and Tyra Wilson.

Frampton opened the scoring just four minutes in when Ellie Michael converted from a set-piece.

Despite dominating possession, Forest Green were unable to created any clear cut chances until the last 15 minutes of the half.

Captain Elle Scott took a quick throw in to Rhian Robbins, some nice hold up play from the striker saw her set up Taylor who’s volley had to be well saved.

From the resulting corner, Scott couldn’t get her effort the right side of the post.

Continuing to threaten out wide, left-back Martha Campbell delivered a cross to the front post that was cleared.

Taylor quickly controlled the clearance and had the keeper beat when her long range effort clipped the top off the crossbar.

Brittain started the second half with a goal that put Rovers level.

A corner from Erin Williams to the back post found Brittain who rose highest - heading into an empty net.

A Williams brace then put Forest Green two ahead.

Her first came on the hour mark when she latched onto an in-swinging cross from Ryder, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Nine minutes later, she was again alert at the back post, this time she was quickest to react to the save and fired home the rebound.

Frampton responded to Williams’ second just three minutes later when, Shannon Francis scored, but a resolute Rovers defence saw out the game to secure the win.

The win moves Forest Green into second, 13 points behind league leaders Marine Academy Plymouth with three games in hand.
