Forest Green Rovers made it successive league victories on Saturday with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Eastleigh at The New Lawn.
A Joe McDonnell own goal opened the scoring for Rovers before Jake Taylor equalised from the penalty spot as the game looked destined to end level.
However, Jamie Robson secured all three points for the home side in the 90th minute when he fired home from inside the six-yard box
The result sees Rovers close the gap to leaders Barnet to just two points, with a further game in hand on the team at the summit.
Steve Cotterill named an unchanged side from the team that defeated Dagenham & Redbridge in mid-week, with goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek making his home debut.
The first chance of the game fell to Rovers after Jamie Robson’s delicate cross found the arriving Liam Sercombe who forced a good save out of Joe McDonnell in the Eastleigh net.
The away side created their first opening shortly after when a swift counter attacking move found early substitute Chris Maguire who could only fire over.
Maguire then looked destined to score when the ball landed at his feet from a long throw but left back Robson put in a heroic block to deny the forward.
A chaotic minute just after the hour mark was where the home side broke the deadlock.
A long ball forward by Cian Harries was superbly brought down by Kyle McAllister whose long-ranged strike hit the inside of the post.
The ball then made its way out to Sean Long and his cross went through the hands of McDonnell and into the back of the net.
Eastleigh would find an equaliser in the 70th minute when visiting captain Taylor converted from the penalty spot after a Robson block was adjudged to have struck the defender’s hand.
Rovers were not to be denied all three points however as after substitute Harvey Bunker’s strike hit the post, Robson was on hand to follow in and secure an important victory.
Cotterill’s side will look to maintain the pace at the top of the table next weekend as they travel to Braintree Town.
