Rovers take on Minstermen in televised match

March 7th 2025FGR Media

It’s a second trip to Yorkshire this week as Forest Green Rovers visit the LNER Community Stadium to take on York City.

A first trip to the Minstermen since 2017, in which the points were shared in a 2-2 draw, awaits Rovers.

Last time out, it was a memorable evening for Rovers as we ran out 2-0 winners back November thanks to goals from Harvey Bunker and Kyle McAllister.

Ahead of National League clash, here is everything Rovers fans need to know about our opposition.

THE OPPOSITION – YORK CITY

Heading into Saturday’s fixture just three points separate Rovers and York with the Minstermen occupying second in the league.

A slight dip in form has seen the Minstermen win just two of their last five games in the league and are winless in their last two at home.

And recent form against promotion rival teams has seen the Minstermen drop points with defeats to Altrincham and Barnet either side of a 2-2 draw with FC Halifax town.

IN THE DUGOUT – ADAM HINSHELWOOD

Since taking charge in February 2024, Adam Hinshelwood has taken the side on an upward journey helping them to survival last season by just a single point.

This season, the 41-year-old has guided the team into a promotion and title fight as the Minstermen bid for a return to the Football League after almost 10 years away.

Hinshelwood has managed 46 games for the club in the National picking up 25 wins in that time, highlighting the incredible turnaround he’s bought to the club.

PLAYER TO WATCH – OLLIE PEARCE

It’s hard to ignore Ollie Pearce’s numbers at the club this season as the forward has notched up a 30 G/A average in all competitions.

22 National League goals sees Pearce sit as the league’s top scorer with six of those coming in his last six games.
