Rovers make Good Friday trip to Glovers

April 16th 2025FGR Media

It's an afternoon of Good Friday action as Forest Green Rovers travel to Huish Park for our penultimate away game of the season against Yeovil Town.

It was a memorable meeting back on New Year’s Day when a last gasp Ryan Inniss finish saw Rovers come away 2-1 winners at The New Lawn.

Our last league trip to Huish Park back in 2018 was also a memorable one as goals in 92nd and 94th minute from Reuben Reid and George Williams saw Rovers come away 2-1 winners.

Also in recent history of matches with our Friday's opponents, sees the pictured Christian Doidge following a match where both teams preserved their League Two status following a goalless draw in April 2018.

Ahead of our trip to Somerset, here is everything Rovers fans need to know about the Glovers.

THE OPPOSITION - YEOVIL TOWN

The Glovers seen a mixed bag of results this season but upon their return to the National League have enjoyed a mid-table placement for the majority of the season, sitting 13th heading into Friday’s clash.

A memorable 2-1 victory over promotion chasers, Oldham Athletic on Saturday saw the Glovers make it three wins in their last four games in the league.

That victory also made it back-to-back wins at home for the south west side who haven’t enjoyed the best form at Huish Park this season winning just seven of their 21 home league games.

IN THE DUGOUT - MARK COOPER

It’s another re-union with former Rovers boss, Mark Cooper, who has been in charge at Huish Park since 2022 and has recently reached 120 games in charge.

In that time, Cooper has picked up 50 wins for Yeovil and secured the National League South title last season which saw the Glovers return to the National League.

PLAYER TO WATCH - SONNY BLU LO-EVERTON

Sonny Blu Lo-Everton could mark his 100th Glovers appearance against Rovers if he is included in the squad after joining the club from Derby County in 2023.

The 22-year-old has netted three goals (eight since joining) for Cooper’s side this season and saw that tally increase on Saturday when he bagged a brace during their victory over Oldham.
