March 13th 2025FGR Media

Forest Green Rovers look to make it back-to-back wins as we welcome Southend United to The New Lawn for our National League clash.

When the two sides met back on a rather stormy day in November - and after goals from Harvey Bunker and Christian Doidge - we shared the points in a 2-2 with the Shrimpers.

It’s the fourth ever meeting between the two sides and Southend's first visit to Nailsworth since 2021 when Rovers were defeated 3-1.

Ahead of the their visit, here is everything Rovers fans need to know about our opponents.

OPPOSITION - SOUTHEND UNITED

The Shrimpers have a enjoyed a battling season up towards the top and currently sit ninth in the National League, three points off the play-offs.

Our visitors are currently enjoying an impressive run of seven games without defeat with victories over Altrincham, Aldershot Town and FC Halifax Town in this spell.

Away form has been strong recently for the Essex side who have suffered just one defeat in their last five on the road.

IN THE DUGOUT - KEVIN MAHER

Manager, Kevin Maher, still enjoying his first managerial role, has been with the club since 2021.

The 48-year-old has managed over 160 games for the Shrimpers seeing almost 70 victories in that time.

Since taking over the helm the club, Maher has guided them to an eighth and ninth place finish in his first three seasons.
