Match Preview | Eastleigh (H)

Spitfires travel to The New Lawn on Saturday

February 6th 2025Sam Yapp

Forest Green Rovers welcome Eastleigh to The New Lawn for the first time since 2016 ahead of our National League clash.

That meeting back in September of 2016 saw Rovers earn a 1-1 draw as Rhys Murphy cancelled out Mikael Mandron’s opener.

Goals from Harry Cardwell, Tom Knowles and Charlie McCann saw Rovers come away 3-1 winners on the Southcoast in our most recent meeting back in October.

Ahead of our meeting with the Spitfires, here is everything Rovers fans need to know about or opponents.

THE OPPOSITION - EASTLEIGH

Since our meeting in October, our visitors have hit a grey patch of form in the league winning just three games since October whilst drawing eight of their last 18 league games.

Recent form in the league sees them having picked up just one in five and head to The New Lawn on the back of successive defeats against Altrincham and Sutton United.

That form sees the Hampshire side occupy 13th in the National League but, with how tightly fought the division currently is, sees them sit four points off the play-off spots.

IN THE DUGOUT - KELVIN DAVIS

Kelvin Davis is closing in on a year in charge of the Spitfires after taking the helm back in February of last year.

Since taking charge, the former Southampton goalkeeper has overseen 41 matches with the Spitfires picking up 15 wins in that time.

PLAYER TO WATCH - LUDWIG FRANCILLETTE

Ludwig Francillette has been one of the most in-form players in recent as the centre-half has popped up with three goals in his last seven league games.

The 25-year-old has also ever present in the backline being one of six players to have featured in over 2,000 minutes for the club.

25.01.25 – Sutton United 1-0 Eastleigh (National League)

18.01.25 – Eastleigh 1-2 Altrincham (National League)
