FGR played out a 0-0 draw with Leamington in yet another pre-season friendly ahead of the new campaign.
Rob Edwards rotated the starting eleven from Tuesday's third warm-up match with Championship side Cardiff City - with the likes of Opi Edwards and Lewis Thomas getting further minutes under their belts.
Returning from a slight knock, Jack Aitchison went the closest for Rovers in the opening stages of the encounter. The Barnsley loanee managed to find his way into the penalty area - only to see his effort denied by a block.
For the majority of the first half, neither side managed to dominate proceedings. The Brakes almost took the lead on the half hour mark through Kieran Cook - who directed his tame effort directly into the gloves of Thomas.
Minutes before the interval and the visitors were perhaps unfortunate not to find the back of the net. Rovers were awarded a free-kick when Cadden was hacked down on the left wing - and Young struck his effort onto the bar from a tight angle.
Rovers started the brighter of the two sides in the second half - and nearly raced into the lead. Former Leamington loanee Taylor Allen sent in a low cross for Adams, who picked out Edwards - but the winger only managed to fire his first time effort narrowly wide.
Paul Holleran's men caught FGR against the run of play - and from the resulting corner, looked likely to net the opener. Josh Martin found space and saw his free header cleared off the line by Jake Young.
But the former Sheffield United youngster was causing problems at the other end too. Moments later and he drove forwards looking to test Brakes stopper Jake Weaver, but he managed to push the curling effort around the post.
