After time in the academy system with hometown club St Mirren, new FGR signing Kyle McAllister wasted no time in making the big step up to the professional game.
He made his first team debut for the Buddies against Queen of the South a little over three weeks after turning 17 and made a first start for the club just a week later.
The midfielder gained more game time in the following 2016/17 season in which he made 14 appearances and netted his first goal, an impressive solo effort against Spartans in the Scottish Cup.
The Scottish youth international began to attract interest from the EFL with a number of clubs rumoured to be vying for his signature ahead of the January transfer window.
And eventually McAllister would trade the Scottish second tier for the English second tier, signing for now League One outfit Derby County.
But injury troubles hampered McAllister’s time in the Midlands and two years on from the move to the Rams with no first team appearances under his belt, he returned to St Mirren on loan until the end of the season.
This time in the Scottish Premiership, McAllister helped the side stay in the league courtesy of the relegation play-off and at the end of the season, he returned to Renfrewshire on a permanent basis.
Back with his hometown club and further injury problems reduced minutes in two separate stints throughout the 2019/20 season.
But McAllister would go on to make the 43 appearances in all competitions for the Buddies in the following campaign, operating in a variety of positions across the midfield.
The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season back in the Scottish Championship on loan at Partick Thistle.
And at the seasons conclusion, the Paisley born ace was released by his boyhood club, where he made a total of 111 appearances.
The versatile McAllister now arrives at The New Lawn becoming new Rovers manager Ian Burchnall’s third signing, ahead of the clubs first season in third tier of English football.
