Forest Green Rovers boss David Horseman believes his side can be a match for anybody in League Two ahead of Rovers' trip to Stockport County.
Stockport are well-fancied for promotion with four wins from their last six games, but Rovers have already proved this season that they can go toe-to-toe with the league's best sides.
However, Horseman acknowledges that FGR will need to be much better than their last outing, where they were defeated 2-1 at home by Morecambe.
“We have to step up a little bit more," said Horseman. "We know what we’re looking for, but we have to produce.
“We need to make forward progress and the performances need to be consistently positive.
“Before the season started, Stockport, Notts County and Wrexham would have been many people’s top three - and that’s where I expect them to be.
“They have good players, really well-coached, two forward players who are scoring at will at the moment.
“They play a diamond in midfield and bring their eights wide. We need to pass forward and run forward quicker so that we’re effective on the counter-attack
“We’re under no illusions that they are probably the best team in the league I’ve watched. They’re big, strong, quick and have some really good footballers.
“We have enough in the group and we’ve shown on a few occasions this year that we can be a match for anybody in the league."
Horseman is set to welcome a few fresh faces back into the squad - a much-needed boost given the injuries picked up in recent weeks.
Callum Morton could be set for more minutes after making his Rovers debut on Saturday in the defeat to Morecambe, while Fankaty Dabo and Jacob Maddox could also feature. However, the Rovers Head Coach has emphasised the need for patience when it comes to these players returning to action.
“Dabo, Jacob and Callum will be available," he said. "They haven’t played or trained much. Supporters will probably see that Dabo is available and think ‘why don’t you just play him?’, but we did that against Doncaster and he got forced off after six minutes.
“I need to make sure that we get these players back - and also that they stay back. They’ll probably only play 15 or 20 minutes at best on Tuesday. We’re slowly getting there but we need to be patient now."
