FA Trophy Third Round Draw

Rovers to face Braintree Town away

November 18th 2024FGR Media

Two-time finalists Forest Green begin our FA Trophy campaign by travelling to Braintree Town in the Third Round Proper with games taking place on Saturday, December 7.

Rovers are making their first appearance back in the FA Trophy since 2017 where they reached the Third Round narrowly losing 1-0 away to then Macclesfield Town.

The Gloucestershire side reached the final of this competition in both 1999 and 2001 losing both 1-0 to Kingstonian at Wembley in their maiden final appearance and Canvey Island at Villa Park two years later.

Rovers are no strangers to high scoring games with their largest victories in the competition coming in at 6-1 on two occasions against Weymouth in 1984/85 and Barton Rovers in the 2000/01 season.

At the other end of the field, Rovers’ have been almost impenetrable keeping seven clean sheets in their last 11 FA Trophy matches dating from 2017 back to 2013.

In the build up to this tie, Rovers travel to Southend United this Saturday before they kick off their lengthy home run of games against FC Halifax Town on Wednesday, 27 November.

We faced our fellow Vanarama National League opponents earlier this season, winning 2-1 against a resolute Braintree side with Kyle McAllister netting a late winner.

Ticketing details will be confirmed in due course.
