As part of the EFL's annual Week of Action, FGR and FGR Community have been busy throughout the week.
The week started with a Coffee and Chat club at Arkell Community Centre in Nailsworth. The event is hosted by the new Community Development Worker for Forest Green and Nailsworth, Cathy Iddles.
It was supported by Phil Drew who is the Community Wellbeing & Inclusion Coordinator for FGR Community.
The cafe and food project is open between 8:30am and 12:30pm every Monday - and is open to everyone of all ages.
Later on Monday morning, FGR Community were in attendance at an already-established walking football group at Stratford Park.
The session was attended by Chris Kelly (Programmes Manager) and Stephen Dolman (Project Officer for Community Inclusion and Health & Wellbeing). The session was well-attended, but FGR are getting involved to see how we can support with the running and growth of the group.

All sessions are free at Nailsworth Youth Club, as part of the already established Youth Club sessions, on a Tuesday 7pm-9pm (12-18 year olds) and Wednesday 5.30pm– 7pm (8-11 year olds).
On Wednesday, FGR defender Jordan Moore-Taylor visited Kempsford Primary School. This was as part of Premier League Reading Stars fixtures, which is an ongoing English intervention to help pupils improve their reading skills with a football theme.
Moore-Taylor joined in with the arrival activities and then pupils took part in an adapted version of the ‘In the News’ fixture of the programme. They took on the role of journalists, asking interview questions to Jordan and then coming up with headlines for the article they would write.
The activities at Kempsford continued in an after-school club. FGR Community are facilitating an after-school football club with KS2 pupils.
There was another school visit on Thursday - this time to Katharine Lady Berkeley in Wotton-Under-Edge.
Between 3pm and 4pm, there was a football session for the girls at the school. We provide fun, inclusive football activities to help engage girls in football who may be new to the sport.
