Rob Edwards and Matty Stevens have taken a clean sweep of August's League Two awards after an excellent first month of the campaign.
As far as starts go, Rob Edwards' opening gambit at the helm of Forest Green was an impressive one, picking up four wins from five League Two games, including a 6-3 thumping of Crawley Town.
Their potent form in front of goal saw Edwards' men net 13 times, five more than any other side in the division, with Matty Stevens leading the scoring charts.
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Rob Edwards side certainly set their stall out as August’s EFL entertainers, scoring 13 goals in their first four games, before things came crashing down against Port Vale.
“Edwards will have to pick his men up again and keep pace with Bradford and early pace-setters Harrogate, starting with the visit of Northampton on Saturday."
Stevens, having not started a single league game in 2020/21, got off to an electric start this time around as he struck five times in as many games.
The No.9 opened his account with a looping header against Sutton United on opening day, before adding a brace at Walsall.
He struck again three days later with a tidy volley to earn Rovers three points at Rochdale, before lofting the second goal of six over the Crawley Town goalkeeper.
Don Goodman said: “Right in amongst the goals from the off this season, Stevens was a beneficiary of Forest Green’s marauding attacking play in August.
“The stats show him to be by far the best marksman in the division so far and with Jamille Matt also finding his goalscoring boots in August, this Forest Green attack are sure to prove difficult to stop.”
