Rovers came into this game following a 2-1 victory against Swindon Supermarine and a Bristol City side that are yet to concede in pre-season will look to continue their winning ways.
The first chance of the game fell to the hosts just before the two minute mark as Mark Sykes was on the end of a through ball, but McGee was there to stop in the Rovers net.
Rover’s first opportunity came as Hendry shot from inside the penalty area, but it was collected comfortably by Dan Bentley.
With 18 minutes played, Bristol City’s front three of Sykes, Weimann and Martin were all involved in a chance which resulted in an audacious effort from Chris Martin whose chance was blocked by Moore-Taylor.
Bristol City broke the deadlock in the 24th minute as Weimann crossed the ball into the area, finding Sykes whose header found the feet of Chris Martin who slotted the ball home.
Neat link-up-play from Cargill and Hendry led to the midfielder fizzing the ball across the goalmouth, but there was no Rovers player on the end of it.
Just minutes into the second half, Martin flicked the ball into the path of Andi Weimann who finished past McGee and doubled City’s lead.
With 51 minutes played, Bristol City scored their third as Weimann was involved again; the Austrian played a ball into Mark Sykes who took the ball past McGee and tapped it into the back of an empty Rovers net.
A great chance for Rovers as Stevenson played a sweet ball into the box and found Hendry whose left-footed volley was stopped by Dan Bentley in the Robins goal.
While the rain poured down at the Robins High Performance Centre, Rovers pulled a goal back in the 75th minute as O’Keeffe lofted the ball into the 18-yard-area and after a goalmouth scramble March tucked the ball home.
