A group of football fans are currently taking part in a cycle ride in memory of former Rovers skipper Lee Collins by cycling to his six professional club in support of Mind Somerset.
Everyone at FGR were deeply saddened in March last year when the news of 32-year-old Collins, who was captain of Yeovil Town at the time, had passed.
Collins had a successful career in the EFL across almost fifteen years with spells at Port Vale, Northampton Town, Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers and Yeovil.
During the first week of May, around fifty Yeovil supporters and keen cyclists will remember the life and achievements of Collins during 'Get Pedalling 22 #Miles4Minds', tackling 500 miles around the country and taking in Collins' former teams en-route. They will be arriving at Forest Green on Friday 6th May.
And in-keeping with Collins’ former Yeovil squad number 4, each cyclist has committed to raising at least £444.
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Kicking off in Somerset, the route intends to cover:
Day 1 – Yeovil to Swindon (79 miles)
Day 2 – Swindon to Northampton (74 miles)
Day 3 – Northampton to Mansfield (80 miles)
Day 4 – Mansfield to Stafford (72 miles)
Day 5 – Stafford to Tewkesbury (76 miles)
Day 6 – Tewkesbury to Portishead (65 miles)
Day 7 – Portishead to Yeovil (49 miles)
