Rovers are back on the road in league action this weekend as they head to Staffordshire to take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
This Saturday’s meeting marks a first match between the two sides in 14 years, back from our time together in the Conference League.
Let's roll back the years and take a look at that matchup, as well as our two other clashes from back in 2008.
FGR 3-1 BURTON ALBION – 31/03/2008
Rovers boosted their outside chances of reaching the Conference League play-offs by beating an in form Brewers side 3-1 in GL6.
Adriano Rigoglioso opened the scoring inside the opening 20 minutes taking aim from range beating keeper Saul Deeney
Leslie Afful doubled the lead and had his first of the afternoon just under 10 minutes before the break for Rovers.
The visitors were given a lifeline 20 minutes from time as Daryl Clare swept home to set up a tense finish to the clash.
But any worries for the Rovers faithful were swiftly put to ease when Afful fired home his second to ensure the points were staying Gloucestershire with Jim Harvey’s side.
BURTON ALBION 4-2 FGR – 27/09/2008
A tricky start to the 2008/09 season continued for Rovers as they were downed 4-2 at the Pirelli Stadium.
It was Rovers who took the lead however inside the opening seven minutes as Darren Jones opened the scoring from close range to upset the home crowd.
That lead stayed intact for nearly an hour until Keith Gilroy drew the hosts level and set them on their way.
The game would turn completely on its head not long after as quickfire goals from Marc Goodfellow and a Shaun Harrad penalty saw the Brewers sitting comfortably.
FGR striker Andy Mangan gave Rovers hope in injury time but Harrad netted his second right at the death to confirm a Burton win.
FGR 2-3 BURTON ALBION – 6/12/2008
Burton completed a league double over Rovers during the 2008 Christmas period as they edged a five goal thriller at The New Lawn.
As he was in the first match of the season Andy Mangan was on target early on to put Rovers ahead in a campaign that eventually saw the striker win the leagues golden boot award.
That lead was short lived however as a quick brace once again from Shaun Harrad saw the travelling Brewers go ahead after 25 minutes.
After half time the visitors further cemented that lead when Greg Pearson scored from the spot to put daylight between the sides.
Johnathan Smith met a Jerry Gill cross to pull one back for Rovers 20 minutes from time but they couldn’t find the equaliser despite their best efforts late on.
