Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the additions of three new members of staff to the backroom team.
Former Premier League defender Ben Turner has joined the Club as First-Team Coach. The 34-year-old played over 370 games during his playing career for the likes of Cardiff City, Peterborough United and Coventry City.
Turner worked under FGR Head Coach Ian Burchnall at Notts County and was most recently Assistant Manager at Ilkeston Town.
Upon joining the club, he said: “Joining Forest Green is a really good opportunity for me in terms of where I’m at in my coaching career. I want to help the team and help all the lads develop.
“I’m working with a Head Coach who I’ve played for before, so I know what he’s looking to do and he’s somebody I can learn a lot from.”
Rovers have also recruited Alfie Sparks as Lead First-Team Performance Analyst. Sparks has made the switch from Brentford, where he was Performance Analyst for the Club’s B Team.
“I’m excited to be a part of such a forward-thinking Club,” said Sparks. “There are great people here and I’m looking forward to the remainder of the season.”
Meanwhile, Jack Crabb has joined the team as Lead Data Scientist. Crabb will work closely with the Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning departments.
Crabb said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Lead Data Scientist at FGR. The opportunity highlights the Club’s continued investment in data - and I look forward to working across different departments to drive and optimise performance.”
