Forest Green are delighted to announce that free agent Ben Tozer has signed.
Experienced defender Tozer who most recently won back-to-back promotions with Wrexham AFC will join FGR after becoming a free agent in May this year.
Tozer has made over 100 appearances for League clubs Northampton, Cheltenham and Wrexham.
34-year-old Tozer further strengthens the FGR back line as he becomes the second defensive signing of the summer alongside Sean Long.
On his most recent experience at Wrexham AFC.
"Getting promoted back-to-back was incredible and it was amazing to be a part of the club during that time. I gained a lot of experience playing a good chunk of games for Wrexham and learned a lot while supporting the younger players from the sidelines.
On why he signed with FGR.
"There were quite a few things. During my off season I wrote up a do’s and don’t list; what I wanted from my next move, obviously I want to continue the highs but there’s more to it than just winning games.
Also the Gaffer and his plans and aspirations, the kind of dressing room and culture he wants in the team, The other players and signings he wants to make, and he was keen to accommodate me and my family.
Then there’s the plans off the pitch like the new training ground, it all goes hand in hand.
On what he’s looking forward to next season.
I want a successful season on the pitch, as a player and for the club. Everyone knows that promotion out of the National League is difficult, we’ve got to work hard and I’m looking forward to getting get stuck in."
