Forest Green are excited to welcome nine new and talented players into our scholarship programme ahead of the 2021/22 season.
The youngsters arrived at The innocent New Lawn on Friday for heart screening tests, contract signing and League Football Association online modules - before an induction with Hannah Dingley and Jimmy Ball and a welcome from Head Coach Rob Edwards.
A move into the FGR hostel followed, with a handful of the new starlets moving away from home for the first time.
Join us in giving them a warm welcome to the World's Greenest Football Club:
Bristol-born midfielder Curtis Dunn made his way through the FGR Academy system, starting in the U15 set-up, before signing a scholarship contract in February.
Oxfordshire-based stopper Dylan John signed to confirm another year with the Academy last campaign, the only goalkeeper of the newest recruits.
Local lad Finley is one that might ring a bell with FGR fans, the midfielder stepping off the bench in last season’s Papa John’s Trophy game against West Bromwich Albion aged just 15.
The youngest player to represent FGR in an EFL competition, full-back Jack Carter made his Rovers debut in last season’s Papa John’s Trophy group stage.
Local striker Joe McLaughlin was one of the five recruits from within FGR’s youth set-up. He joined Rovers at U14 level.
Midfielder Jacob Towns joins from Stoke City, the youngster having earned a call-up to England’s U15 training camp.
Welsh defender Murphy Bennett joins FGR from Manchester City’s youth system. He has represented his country at U16 level.
Owen Woodhouse makes the switch from fellow League Two club Walsall. The defender began his journey in academy football with the Wolverhampton Wanderers U11s.
Gloucester-born winger Josh Mason joins Rovers from the Aston Villa Academy, having progressed from the Villa Development Centre in Gloucester.
