Described as ‘the greenest football club in the world’, sustainability is central to everything we do at Forest Green Rovers, which is why we became a vegan football club In 2015.
Rovers are back on the road in League One action this Saturday as we face Burton Albion in our first weekend away day for over a month.
The vegan guide series is back and here we take a look at Burton-On-Trent and its vegan scene ahead of our trip to the Pirelli Stadium.
The Dial:

Saturday Opening Times: 10:00AM – 11:00PM
The Dial is a restaurant open from morning to night in Burton town centre that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner for those who dine there. Opened in 2002 the restaurant boasts a wide range of food including some highly rated vegan options. The Dial is just over two miles from the Pirelli Stadium and could be an ideal place to eat when you’re in Burton.
Caprinos Pizza:
58 New Street, Burton-On-Trent, DE14 3QY
Saturday Opening Times: 11:00AM – 11:00PM
Located in the town centre, Caprinos Pizza is a great place to go if you fancy a pizza before or after Saturday’s clash. The award winning pizza chain is just a 10 minute drive away from the home of the Brewers and delivers as well as being a takeaway. Caprinos has it’s own vegan menu with a variety of different pizza’s available for those who make the trip there.
The Winery:
Manor Drive, Burton-Upon-Trent, DE14 3RW

Not far from the above mentioned Caprinos and The Octagon Shopping Centre is The Winery, a brilliant restaurant with an impressive view of the River Trent. ‘Located in one of the oldest buildings in town’ the restaurant has a vegan specific menu with a great range of meals as well as a vegan wine list for those who fancy a beverage when in Staffordshire.
Café B:
30 High Street, Burton-On-Trent, DE14 1JN
Saturday Opening Times: 10:00AM – 4:00PM
Situated on the high street in Burton town centre, Café B is a cosy spot for all to enjoy a warm drink or bite to eat before kick-off on Saturday. The small bistro style restaurant have some good vegan options including the vegan breakfast, vegan cheese and tomato panini, vegan burger and more. If you’ve got the time Café B are certainly worth the visit.
Ego Mediterranean Restaurant (Lichfield):
1 Bird Street, Lichfield, WS13 6PW
Saturday Opening Times: 11:00AM – 11:00PM
We’re going slightly south for this one to Lichfield where you’ll find the Ego Mediterranean Restaurant. A 25 minute drive from Burton-On-Trent, the restaurant has it’s own vegan menu with an extensive appetisers list as well as main courses, sides and tasty desserts. If you’re travelling up from Gloucestershire and see the signs to Lichfield, if time permits you’ll find a tasty vegan meal at Ego.
Our Innocent Planet:

Our Innocent Planet is a vegan friendly zero-waste store that opened its doors in Stretton back in August of this year. Ran by couple Lisa and Mark Whyatt, they offer a range of products including bath, shower, self-care and wellness products and much more. You can also refill your household essential liquids so be sure to bring your bottles and stock up.
Grace and May Home:
22 Outwoods Street, Burton-On-Trent, DE14 2PJ
A store that ‘are passionate about sustainable living,’ Grace and May Home have a wide range of eco-friendly products as well as vegan specific range. Located not far from Burton-On-Trent train station the store was opened by two sisters in 2020 and have already won awards including the Theo Paphitis’s Small business Sunday award. Whether it be homeware, beauty care or even stationary, Grace and May have got you covered.
