Duncan Ferguson’s first Rovers game under the lights ended in defeat, despite his side's valiant effort against Charlton Athletic.
After a slow start from Rovers, Charlton capitalised and took the lead through Corey Blackett-Taylor just 12 minutes into play.
Shortly after the restart, Myles Peart-Harris attempted an audacious shot on goal following a near-post corner from Corey O’Keeffe, but his effort brushed against the side-netting.
There was a half-chance for Ben Stevenson shortly before the 30-minute-mark as Rovers' strong build-up play led to the midfielder striking wide from just outside the box.
In the second half, Rovers were slowly finding their feet when Amadou Bakayoko held the ball up nicely and struck from distance, but the frontman’s shot flew over the bar.
There were 62 minutes on the clock when Dylan McGeouch whipped in a delicious ball that fizzed past all the Charlton defenders, but Brandon Cooper also failed to make contact at the back post.
Charlie Savage impressed on his debut from the bench - and he played a delightful ball over the Charlton back-line to put in Jamie Robson, but his cross failed to find the arriving O’Keeffe.
Rovers kept pushing for the equaliser and 6 minutes before time, Brandon Cooper met Savage’s corner but Ashley Maynard-Brewer was equal and down quickly to save off the line.
Despite all of Rovers; opportunities, all three points went the way of Charlton.
