Rovers fell to a 3-1 defeat at Whaddon Road as relentless first half from Cheltenham Town saw the Robins net three in just 38 minutes.
An early chance did come Rovers’ way to begin with when Jordon Garrick got in behind the Cheltenham back line, only for the linesman to have his flag up for offside.
A quarter of an hour into the game, Aidan Keena played in Alfie May who made it 1-0 to the Robins with a right footed effort into the far left corner of the goal.
Garrick did then find himself in space, cut inside onto his right foot and saw his shot spilled by Luke Southwood before the keeper dived on the ball to claim it.
Keena was then played through down the same side as May and fired the same shot, down the same side, to double Town’s lead.
Just six minutes later, May got his second and Cheltenham’s third of the day, tapping it in at the back post from a Will Ferry cross.
Garrick got one back for Cheltenham two minutes after the break following a goalmouth scramble. Dom Bernard's shot went in off the knee of Garrick, who claimed his fifth goal in a Rovers shirt.
Rovers had a couple of chance to get another goal back. Corey O'Keeffe saw a free-kick sail just wide, before Dylan McGeouch's piledriver flew over.
